BANGKOK - Our last stop before heading back to Germany. We didn't have much time in Bangkok. What we had was divided between seeing cultural sites (temples) and shopping since everything was dirt cheap. Bangkok is a modern city unlike our travels in Vietnam. Bustling traffic, tuk tuks, but all organized. 7-11 on the corner. It was really not so strange. I would compare it to Houston with better shopping. It was nice to put the flip flops on one last time before heading back to frozen Bavaria.

The famous Khao San Road. The backpacker district. Packed with bars, clubs, and stores selling about everything a backpacker could want.

This is where we stayed in Bangkok. It was a few blocks away from the backpacker Mecca of Khao San Road. Backpackers out numbered locals in this district. It was a very nice, affordable hotel. It was referred to us by Christina's friend who lived in Bangkok for 7 months.

This is a tuk tuk. They are everywhere in Bangkok. They are loud and noisy. For the 1st time in our trip, in Bangkok cars out numbered motor bikes.

Just a friendly little cat? A pic from Pat Pong. The green sign infront is for the Chai VD Clinic.

Waiting on the water taxi. It is a great way to get around. Cheap and fast. They load and unload very fast as well. No time for standing around. It is like a U-bahn with a better view.

Wat Arun - Temple of Dawn from the water taxi.

Christina posing at the Palace. Sleeves are required so they gave her a shirt. Flip flops are forbidden as well so they gave her sandals and black socks (insert joke here).

The Grand Palace.

Standing guard at the Palace. They had to loan me a shirt since sleeves are required.

A mini Ankor Wat?

The Palace was very glitsy

I managed to find a tree to hug at the Royal Palace before we were off to Wat Pho. Lollipop trees.

The main attraction at the Wat Pho is the giant lying Buda.

Talk to the hand!

There are hundreds of sitting Budas at Wat Pho.

Just giving a helping hand....

Wat Pho is all about golden Budas.

The Chatuchak Weekend Market has everything from clothes to pets. How much for that little puppy in the window?

Some turtles for Jake. 4 bat a peice. 10 for $1.

Squirrels also seemed to be a popular choice. The squirrels didn't seem to happy about it. www.scarysquirrel.org

No lack of yummy food at the Chatuchak Market. Fried grasshoppers or baby birds? Maybe some tasty meal worm stir fry?
